So, you want to turn your incredible book into an even more incredible listening experience, but don't know where to start? That's where we come in.

Whether you're whisking your readers off to a different era or even a different planet, reliving gripping crimes, or seeking to inform or entertain; we help authors bring their books to life as audiobooks.

Production Farm is a Hobart based audio studio experienced in producing fiction, non-fiction, children's and academic works into audio form, finding new audiences around the world.

Our Process

ROADMAP

We’ll work with you/your publisher to map out an audiobook production schedule to complete the project in time and on budget.

If required, we can assist with guidance about self-publishing and distribution to audiobook platforms.

CASTING

Want to read the work yourself? That’s fine! Some authors are totally comfortable voicing their own work, but if your audiobook requires a different kind of voice or tone, we start with casting the right voice actor.

- Scout for suitable voice talent, according to client/publisher brief

- Supply voice options for consideration

- Provide test recording(s) / voice talent sample(s)

- Provide vocal coaching and guidance for authors who want to voice it themselves

RECORDING

Depending on the length of the work, voiceover recording may take one sitting, or many. We can assist by:

- Mapping out a recording schedule to suit all parties (voice talent, author, publisher)

- Recording voice talent in our soundproof recording studio (monitored by a producer)

- Author/publisher sitting in on sessions to assist with clarifications (i.e. context and pronunciations)

EDITing/POST PRODUCTION

Raw takes are not perfect, so with some special tools we de-pop, delete lip-smacks, reduce big breaths, and remove extraneous noises, stumbles, mumbles and re-takes.

- Edit voiceover recordings / editing into chapters & sections 

- Package with music (if/where required)

- Mix audio according to specifics of audiobook platform(s)

- Source and license music and effects from our libraries of supporting material

REVIEW

Our in-house review is a dedicated listen to check for errors and corrections.

- In-house review by Production Farm audiobook reviewer

- Listening to entire book for errors and corrections 

- Author/publisher review and revisions to audiobook

CORRECT

- Voiceover recording session to fix any correction and amendments

- Apply corrections and amendments

- Edit voiceover recordings / editing into chapters & sections

DELIVERY

- Provide final audiobook according to specifications of platform(s)

- Assist with distribution to final platform (Amazon, Audible, etc)
